Any lure historians out there know if Swim Whizzes were ever made out of wood, or if there were other one piece diving wood baits made?

EDIT....accidentally posted in wrong category. Not sure how to move it.

As far as I know they were always made out of plastic. The only one piece diving bait out of wood that I know is the Creek Chub Pikie.

Lazy Ike made a muskie edition in wood prior to 1960. Some time years ago there was a vendor at the Milwaukee Musky show selling wooden copies of that design. Don't recall the name. Haven't seen it since.

I have never seen a wood one. A lot of prototype lures were first made out of wood,
then plastic. Stay healthy ALL.

There are some hand carved wood swim whizz lures out there, Homer made them as prototypes , I have 1 and actually contacted his grandson many years ago - he confirmed this it was one of the later prototypes.

In his book (Homer LeBlanc ) he talks of making different lures ,spoons and all kinds of things and some wooden lures but he wanted something that a fish (Muskie) would not sink it's the teeth into. He was getting lots of hits but few hook ups, also had problems with line twist. He wanted a lure that a Muskie would not sink it's teeth into and he wanted a lure without a big lip or a heavy weight. His first lure was a spoon that looked like a oversized Rex Spoon except it had a dressed treble and was called Swim Zag.
