Anything in this area that I'm missing. I've done a ton of research and haven't been able to find anything legit closer to me. It looks like Madison and Twin Cities have some options, they are about 2.5 hour drive for me. I've heard Neshonoc mentioned, or even Zumbro in Rochester, but not sure how legitimate those are anymore if at all....I'd even take some big pike fishing. I'm right on the mississipi but they can get tough to find on the river most of the time...

Nope. Your not missing much. Bad part of the state for muskies. Neshonoc I would not call a viable option at the moment. There is the Wis. River within 90 miles, and a lake in the Mauston area. The Black River is an option, and Potters Flowage near B.R Falls.
The Eau Claire area has Muskie water.

The zumbro was tigers and it's questionable about the population.
That area of wis and MN is excellent trout fishing.

There are big pike in the Mississippi,,I know a farmer down there that fishes that lacrosse stretch,,I would target where the trout streams enter for cooler water.

There definitely is. My biggest is 42". I've got a couple spots that I can hit big ones but you have to catch them at the exact right time. Other than that, I have had trouble tracking them down. I've heard about Lake Onalaksa being a good pike spot, but haven't been down there yet. Good tips, appreciate it!

Castle is part of Wi River, so ya, that is an option I did mention. but I was referring to Redstone south of Mauston.

My closest muskie lake is 2 hrs, 2.5 - 3 to others. Put on a good set of tunes and enjoy the ride. m

There are muskies in at least one lake in Govenor Dodge State Park. Electric motor only so you'll have to use your trolling motor

Zumbro has them, people are very tight lipped about it. Do some exploring and you'd be surprised. They are pure strain, not tigers.

Every single one of the biggest pike I have seen in my life have been in SE Mn. Last fall I got my PB of 44.5 here and 2 days ago while on the same water I drove over one that was for sure bigger, looked comparable in size to the 47” musky I caught on accident a few weeks ago on vermilion while walleye fishing. There are 2 musky fisheries in SE Minnesota, I’ll say French lake is one of them. It is west of Rochester but it is still in SE, definitely has fish over 50” in it but it’s a tough lake to fish lots of pressure. Like a lot of Minnesota lakes, low density population but potential for pretty big fish. I will be spending the day tomorrow on the other one which is my main fishery, not just for muskies but smallmouth and walleye as well as channel cats in the 20-30lbs range if you know what to look for, pretty special place.

I am strongly considering making a trip somewhere this weekend. I was looking at either Lake Redstone as mentioned here or something near the Twin Cities (Cedar Lake maybe)? Any tips? I'm sure this is probably a tough time to get out right after opener.
