Just a quick advisory for folks that might be traveling to Forest, Florence or Marinette county with pets. In a disturbing trend, 2 more pet dogs died of poisoning in Florence County in April, the last on April 24. Over the last year at least 7 dogs and numerous wild animals, including coyotes, eagle, wolf and others have died from poison. There is a $1,000 reward for information about who is putting poisoned food out along roadways, paths. It is not accidental, but that seems to be all authorities know or at least are releasing. The news media here have been covering the story for some time but thought of guys that might be coming up for the opener and bringing dogs along. I don't know southern parts of the state are hearing about this. Keep them on a short leash and be vigilant.

May be some guy trying to kill wolves, that has happened before. Or maybe just a very sick individual.

You would think if someone was targeting wolves, they would be putting the poison in a little more remote places. Possibly not, maybe they are just lazy.

I wondered about that as well, but maybe the dogs just aren't in those areas? There was big commercial potato farmer in Oneida County a number of years ago who paid a big fine and did some jail time for poisoning wolves, eagles, etc., but he put it about a half mile off the road on his property. He was targeting wolves.
