| Although it certainly looks better having the cables tied snugly together with the gas and battery cables… all rigged neat and tidy, that can also cause the some kinking when the kicker motor is trimmed up. Last year I had to replace the control cables again… this has been an almost semi-annual event for the last 10 years, and it was starting to get pretty annoying. So, I decided to just leave the cables loose this time so that they could move freely. Now when I trim the kicker motor up the cables retract into the transom, and it seems to be working better so far. My best guess is this way relieves about 80% of the stress as opposed to the way the factory rigged it.
