Yesterday I went to install my Lowrance structure scan LSS-1. I hooked the red to positive, black to negative and the yellow I tied in with my HDS -8 on an accessory switch on the dash. I am getting power to my HDS-8 but nothing to the structure scan(no lights on the box ). Prior to installing in the boat, I checked to structure scan to make sure it worked by temporarily pig tailing it with the red power line and had a graph that showed it was working. I need some help, should the structure scan be on its own switch because it has a higher amp draw? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Thank you. I will do that and put the HDS unit on direct power. Appreciate your response.

" I hooked the red to positive, black to negative and the yellow I tied in with my HDS -8 on an accessory switch on the dash. "

You have this backwards i believe.

Yellow is constant 12v and red is switched 12v.

See if switching the power sources helps, shouldn't need a seperate switch for a switched connection. You should be able to run more than i unit off 1 switch with out issues.

The red switched connection usually doesn't have a big draw, but the Yellow is meant for constant power and can have a bigger draw. Although you may get things to power up with your configuration, you may experiance issue that are associated with a lack of power to your device. That might be why you have the results you are seeing. Switch the wires around once and see if that does the trick for you.

If not you can message me and I can help you troubleshoot it further.

Good luck!
