Hey folks,
thanks in advance for the advice.

I'm house hunting and found an awesome place, but the garage is a little short at only 23'. I measured my boat at it's roughly 24' 4" from the tip of the trailer to the back of the motor completely lowered. I was wondering what options are out there for swing trailers, and how much length would I really save, cost, etc. Obviously I can angle the boat a little too.

I have a 93' Ranger 690.

Any other ideas are completely welcome. My wife suggested cutting a hole in the back of the garage and creating a "dog house" for the motor... I'm considering it....

I've got a 94' Ranger 681 I would trade you for the 690... That would fit better in the garage..

Seriously though, what your wife suggested would not be that hard to build, and would work.

I angle my 690 so the motor is in the back corner of the garage. It fits good and I have similar dimensions as you. I have thought about getting a new trailer with a swing tongue but it would cost me as much as I paid for the whole boat.

You can add a swing tongue to your existing trailer,,,there are companies that make kits.

This is exactly what I did for 4 years at my last place. Back it in, disconnect, lower tongue all the way down, lower motor all the way down, swing the whole trailer one way or the other. It’ll fit. I had a 91 692 and it fit into a smaller garage than yours.

On my trailer there isn't enough room to add the hinge. The side frames of the trailer come almost all the way to the hitch. What length of tongue that is left, holds the brake actuator. My trailer is a '96.

Had a house in my old neighborhood where the owner had done just what you are thinking of, made an addition off the back of the garage so his boat fit. It was a newer home but garage was only 22' deep. Matched the roofing and siding to existing garage, looked like it had always been a part of the house.
