Howdy,

As stated, does anyone know of a device to hold a BULK 2500 yard spool in place when putting it on a reel and rod? I seem to remember Steve posting a picture of some contraption that works.

Currently, if I can't find someone to hold it, I use the pencil/doll rod and hold it between my toes. Ideally I would like to find something that works and makes it a one man job that does not require being a contortionist.

Take care,

Ruddiger

Threaded rod clamped in a vice. Can use a spring, washer and nut to adjust tension if you want to get fancy.

I think Berkley makes a devise for spooling reels on a table top.

The Stealth Tackle line spooler is great. I have 3 of them mounted on my garage wall with the 3 different lines I mainly use. All 2500 yard spools. It makes it so easy to put line on and you can set tension to put the line tight on the spool.

I stick a long screw driver in the grass and and the tension is adjusted by the depth the screw driver is pushed into the ground. Works great and CHEAP too.

I bought the stealth tackle one at the shows last year. I love it. It's made with all metal parts and is heavy duty. I had a cheap one before that it was mostly plastic it broke fast. I mounted mine on the ceiling above my boat so I can stand in boat and spool reels. Used it for mono and braid

I just put the spool inside a cardboard box and run a dowel rod threw the spool sticking out either side... real easy to maintain correct pressure using my feet/toes holding the dowel rod.

The box works good to keep everything in place, without it you will put burn marks in your carpet... cheap 1 person deal to get a tight spool.

$25.00?? + ship... No-brainer imho. But I like Jerry's box idea too. K.I.S.S. thingy.

We musky boys, we got it pretty rough don't we...

Keep'n it simple..
I prefer to spool my line tight and this accomplishes that, tension is fully adjustable and cost a whole lot less than $25+ship costs....
