I have a solid white model which didn’t see the action I’d hope. Any tips on painting the rubber tail and the finished plastic body?

Use a black sharpie to make a white tiger pattern. I have done exactly this to a white invader and caught several fish on it.

I second what Martin said, sharpie of any color will work, you will have to retouch it occasionally though.

I had a white crank with this problem (fish didnt like it) I painted the back black and it started catching fish. This was only in dirty water, I have had success on all white in many clear and blue lakes

I like the black back as well and have repainted & modified several invaders. If I have the time & redoing a color I use black spray paint with silver flakes in it. For less to fill in & precision I like using nail polish. I usually make sure my daughters get sweet baitfish colors for their nails haha. Done well making black splotches like a crappie with sharpie as well or to fill in hook rash, fading and scratches. If I can attach a pic I made a cool one called Darth Invader that I also posted here a few months ago. I sanded the eyes down and added big shiny ones. Touched it up with nail polish and tied some feathers and flash on the back instead of the plastic tail. Ran great & caught a lot of fish.

You need special paint for painting the rubber tail.
