I have a boat seat stanchion that I am having trouble removing. I’ve tried wd40 but my old back can’t handle it. What’s the secret? Silicone? This not the first time I’ve had this problem but this is the worst. Help!

Are you talking about the one with the black plastic end with a tab you have to push? Those can be tough. Silicone and wd40 helps. If you can get a second person to help, do that you can get better side leverage.

Yeah, depends on which kind...

Sometimes the plain slide in ones can get pretty stuck. I used the old kick it in a few different directions to get mine out.

This is solid aluminum going into black plastic. Always a slight struggle but this one is not moving. I’ve had an issue for several years but not like this. You would think the cold would make it easier.

Just wiggle it back and forth a lot while pulling straight up. I had one that wouldn't budge no matter how hard I pulled on it. Wiggled it back and forth and all around and eventually it started moving.

Try taping the the push tab down. Saw a video of a guy doing that, then using car jacks to remove the seat.
