Hello all,

I am new to musky fishing. I typically target catfish and bass. Ive been doing some reading and Ive found you can catch these Musky all year long. There is a spot about 40 mins from me it is dam tailwaters. As my understanding this lake in December starts releasing water in December to lower the lake for winter pool and the Musky in the river goes there to feed. I imagine I would fish the current brakes. As far as what lures to use Im in the dark. I am in Illinois so the water temps should be somewhere in the 30's. any advice would help.

Thanks,

kdebell

Does any colors stand out above the rest? I imagine their main forage is shad. looking at some of these Muskie baits they come in some weird colors and patters.

Phantom softails and squirrely and straight Hellhounds, cranks like custom Cordell Redfins and Shallow Invaders, would be my choices.

Ledo, do you have issues when that jig goes to the left?
