There are a number of lodges on the bay. Any thoughts on which may be near the best areas for musky and walleye. Knowing that the area as a whole is good however we do not like to travel long distances over big water. Location, location, location....

Looking at Red Wing, Red Deer and Mylie's.

Red Deer is not where you want to be.

The other two are fine, or any of the island camps like Split Rock or Tamarack

Mylie's would be my choice. Clean cabins with AC and Justin will mark up a map for you. But you need to be realistic about the travel thing. This is Lake of the Woods after all. But there is plenty of good fishing nearby.

This will be my 4th consecutive year at Mylies. The cabins are great and priced well. Justin is a great and helpful host.

I think the area is good. I haven't had a wild year of fishing yet with 20 fish weeks but realistically I doubt that most guys do. I caught a 52.5 my 2nd year there and a 48.5 last year. Both of those were caught on the bigger water side of Mylies but the beauty of that location is you can head the other way and fish pretty comfortably out of a small boat or be okay if the wind howls during your whole trip.

Don't have to go far to get on fishy stuff there. I'll be there August 12-19 this year and can't wait.

I would recommend you look into Sabaskong Bay Lodge. Very close to ALOT of good musky spots. I burn very little gas when I have gone there. Have caught several in the 4 foot range within view of the lodge. I think if you find it on the map, on their site, you'll see all the endless islands and options very close.
A few more area lodge options would be Kings Island Lodge, Splitrock lodge.

p.s. I have no clue on the walleye fishing, but have seen other folks do well on them there.

Stayed at King's Island Lodge last year and would highly recommend it. Great central location and Donna and Adrian were awesome hosts.

Of course! I'll bring a laptop and printer since my cursive appears to be some sort of foreign code to some people.

Owners were nice...

"Very nice place"? That's quite a stretch. Very very basic, to put it kindly..
