How bad are these two together? Let's say 10 mph winds on LSC how soaked are you?

Just a random Triton 186 dual console for reference

Never been to lsc, but last year at the leach lake shoot out the winds were howling Friday and Saturday about 35 with monster waves that we couldn't see over the waves when we were in the trough and we where dry except the spritz that happenes to all boat between 5-17 mph. On Saturday we saw many people who were wearing rain coats and had soaked floors but we were dry.

I know lsc is large but I can't imagine 10mh being an issue for any 20'+ bass boat. Now my buddy has a 18'5" bass boat that is much much scarier and more wet.

I took my Ranger 520vx bass boat out on LSC. It is horrible even without the wind if you are open water casting. The pleasure boats up there are 3-10 times the size of what I see on my home lakes. We are talking power yachts, and Donzi boats with 3 x 300hp verados!! 3-4' waves when I went up there was the norm. I had water coming over the nose of my boat the whole time I was up there. All of that wasn't nearly as scary as the crap hotel my buddy booked us. It was a microtel holy moly!! Prositutes and drug dealers were the nice people at that place. I highly suggest getting recommendations on where to stay and where not to stay. We did catch some nice fish though!! GOOD LUCK

They hold bass tournaments out there all the time. LSC is one of the best bass lakes in the country. Just use your head and understand you are limited. Casting in 3-4+ waves isn't that much fun if you ask me. You can almost always find somewhere to fish where the wind isn't horrible.

theres a big name guide in northern WI that fishes out of a 21' bass boat that swears the ride is better in big waves than any of the deep v rigs out there. The one ride I took on LOTW and I'll agree it rode better in waves than my MX 1825

Rough water being relative i would want to get on top of 3 and 4ft waves with any boat, you do and you will be pounding waves.

But you're comparing a 21 foot boat with a 18 footer. Length matters!

You said you bought it off an old man that you said you would pay extra to see the boat first, also the old man did not use it much. I think you give a lot of bad info.

One thing to remember guys is that average distance between waves is 4 feet. Ever 5th wave is a rogue wave.Thats the reason a 21 or 22 foot bass boat rides 10 times better than a 18-20 footer as thet won't get caught in a swell by the fifth wave and ride alot smoother and dryer.Learned that from Bob M!

.....but it doesn't take big waves to get wet in a bass boat. All it takes is going idle the wrong direction into a decent chop to get sprinkled on.

I used to have a 21ft triton and now have a 21ft ranger reata. When I go to st Clair I fish out of a 21' tuffy. we watch bass boats get wet and pounded on 3-4' waves while we stand on the deck and cast. Can you fish out of an 18' or 21' bass boat on st Claire? Yes there are plenty out there... Are you going to have a rougher ride and get wet? Most likely...

every year they sink a few bass boats on st Claire and I was told by several guides that they sink a few during the bassmaster tourney, and those guys are all running 21' boats and have a lot more experience than most. The other thing to keep in mind on St. clair is things can and do change very fast. We got caught out in a pretty bad storm earlier this month fishing in a 12-15 sw wind with storms north of the lake. Another guide called us and said he had just hit the marina and the winds were 20+mph out of the north. We put the rods down and made a run for it along the south end (driving into 4'-5" waves) and then as we turned north to go along the western shore the north winds had hit. I was certainly happy to be riding in that tuffy and not a bass boat. We made it to the marina fine but I think a bass boat woulda had a hard time running at any kind of speed in those waves to get to the marina before the bad stuff hit!

^yup ...

in the south where bass boats reign there is also ... i know you can't imagine = Big Water. this is why bass boats have become aircraft carriers over time. long and good quality boats are key to being as comfortable as you can be in conditions.

get a short boat, make sure and wear a kidney belt. try driving a 16' deep v sometime ... gotta be the worst ride on the planet ...

go buy this one ... https://www.basscat.com/boats/page/5/jaguar

I fish out of that exact boat in spring. It is fine while running but while drifting, especially with cappers out it is scary. Once the bow is up its all good. Would never want to be casting out of that at more than 10-15, 15 on st clair would be scary

Fishysam ... I am not trying to start an argument, but nobody is fishing open water on Leech Lake in 35 MPH winds. Period. End of story.

I have a 21' nitro bass boat.... Very very good on plane through big waves, of course idling around yiu can get wet.... I'm assuming it would be horrible fishing in 35 mph winds open water.... I'll never know cuz I'll never do it.

I can't belive it took this long to get asked about 35 on leach, on Friday it definitely was, no way in lords name would I go across the middle of the lake but we definitely were out there and on the wind swept end, 20' between waves helps most were 15' - 25' across peak to peak, Saturday wasn't as bad. Anyways I am normally willing to fish in any condition and often fish alone, I would invite anyone out for at least a test ride. Winds were out of the nw, and for some reason even though the waves were much smaller we had the most issue with traders bay, waves were checker boarded and irregular. South side of big bear island my 60" terrova on my bass boat was surfacing the prop... it was wild and not worth doing other than for the experience.

Bass boat or Deep V. I don't care how big your boat is. Big water can be flat out ugly in all of them and not worth it unless in my opinion maybe you have a tournament out there. Otherwise why beat the s#%*! out of yourself to catch some fish. Always a calmer side or other lakes where you can enjoy your day on the lake.

FishySam that pretty much descrbes the shootout first day every year!! LOL. It was blowing out of the south the first year 35 plus i kid you not....I fished the north end of the lake all day!! Took me a solid 45 minutes in a 621 to get to my spot (12 miles away at the time)It is feasible (albeit dangerous and not very comfortable)in the right boat folks! Can't imagine how bad LSC or the Bay can get in that kind of blow.

Bass boat built on a 621 hull.

If only someone would make my perfect big water muskie boat:
- 20'+ deep-v hull
- Bass boat interior (high floor/low gunnels)
- 10' Rod lockers
- Flat transom for a kicker
