I'm in the market for a new to me boat. I have been looking for a Ranger 619/620 in the 2008 range. I have seen a few newer ranger anglers in my price range become available but I have no experience with them.

Anybody that has experience with both is it even worth comparing the two from a fishability and handling standpoint? Obviously there is a size difference but wondering if anybody has any feedback on the newer angler series in the 2010 to 2014 range?

Thanks

I run a 620 on Lake of the Woods and an 1880 on Lake Havasu. Both will go through 18" of water at a slow speed. The 620 deck will allow you to stow your 7" 3" rods flat, but the 1880 will only allow flat storage of rods less than 6'6".
The 620 is a much better hull for both fishing and running. I don't care for the 1880, but the significant cost difference makes it a viable choice. Both boats will serve one well as a family boat as well as a fishing boat.

Thank you for the response. I'm mainly looking at used boats and I'm leaning towards getting a few year older 619/620. Still looking to stay 2007 or newer on a 619 and 2008 or newer on a 620.

After some reviews that I've seen I think I would be happier holding out for a 619/620 compared to a newer angler in the same price range.

Honestly, If you ever come across a 05 620 with a 225 yamaha 4 stroke I wouldn't pass up on that. I've had 6 rangers and besides my 2014 620 I would say that 05 was my favorite boat. Plus they are usually more affordable.

Ranger changed the hull mid year on the 08's try and find one of those they are better than 06 07 and early 08, they have a more pronounced keel and are better in rough water. If you compare the two they are noticeably different. The Fisherman boats ride alot better and are geared more towards fishing.

Is this for the 619's or 620's? Any specific way of telling if its an early or late 08?

Mid 08 had the hull change on the 620. Not positive on the 6197 but don't believe they changed till recently with the FS series.

The 620 08 post change have a significant keel that cuts water far better then early model year 08, 07 etc. You'll know the difference if you saw 2 08's side by side, the early year 08's look like an 07 or 621 pre 2010.

I just bought a (new) 2015 Angler 2080LS, for much less than the new ones cost...and much less than even a 2-3 year old 620. That hull came out in 2015, so you won't find any before that. It's a much better layout for trolling than the 620 is, at least for me. The bow casting deck is pretty large on the 2080, but I've never been a 1880 Angler to know the difference. I think that hull was first released in 2015--and it was the 1860 Angler before that as I recall.

As to big water capability, I talked to a whole bunch of people who run the Reata. I wanted to know how suitable the Angler hull will be for Green Bay. There were a couple people in particular that I talked to, and one used an 18' Reata for guide work for four years...and loved the boat out there on Green Bay. Another fellow I talked to with a 2050 Reata uses it on Lake Eerie every year, and even has a couple of videos of the thing running in Eerie chop. Both guys told me that the hull will go through more than my body will take! So given the information I learned from a few weeks of research, I elected to go with the Angler 2080 that I found.

Incidentally, Quam's (Ranger dealer) just south of Madison has a new 2060 Angler for sale with a 250 Pro XS Merc, as I recall. Might be worth your while taking a look at that rig, if you are at all considering an Angler.

I wish they made the 2080 in a single console...they are 20k less new than a 620. would be tempting but I prefer a single console....

Do they only come in a double console model? I did not know that. The only examples of that boat I've ever seen have been with the walk-thru window.

I see. Did not know that. Fortunate then that I wanted one like that!

EDIT: Wait a tic...I thought I had seen one with the double-bubble before. They DID come that way, at least in 2015. Maybe they don't anymore though, although they do still list the "Plexi Windshield" as an option on the current website.
