I have a Daiwa lexa 400 pwrp, biggest lures are going to be regular dawgs and double 8 blades. Will the reel last using theys? I hear they don't last very long and if I do break mine could I get it fixed? I hear the bushing breaks alot

Not sure what bushing you are referring to, but I keep a few of the more common parts on hand if you get in a pinch

I guess there's a nylon bushing instead of a bearing

The HD Lexa have different bearings I believe....I cant see you wearing that reel out very fast..you can have them switched out and upgraded by Pikemaster fairly Cheap....Id use it til it fails then send it up to Pikemaster will have back better than new.....8 blades nothing for that reel and it wont even Feel a Regular Bulldawg you should get lots of use from it b4 it needs any attention

Alright thanks guys! I'll use it till it breaks then. I hear the normal lexa has brass gears and the hd is stainless steel

They cam out with a hd in 5.1:1. Is it going to last longer then the normal one?

Yes the stainless steel will last longer but use that one til its whipped which will probably be a good long time then send to Pikemaster and he make it just as good as HD or better

Yea I will, I'm wondering if they made the hd with the plastic bushing too.

Yes, the HD has the same nylon bushing as the regular Lexas. What I did was purchase some miniature ball bearings (size 3x8x4mm) and replace the nylon bushings in my Lexas. Failed bushing problem solved at a very inexpensive cost. It's easy to do, as well.

Alright good to know. If my lexa does wear down the Thorne bros by me is a Daiwa repair center so it works out!

Pinion gear and plastic idler gears are what i have replaced most on these. I buy parts from a guy in florida. Daves Daiwa parts which is Tarpon Outfitters i think .(727) 942-8944. Takes about two weeks if they aren't in stock but i usually keep a lot of parts on hand for these now. I am hoping the HD addresses some of the shortcomings of the other lexa series. Still a decent reel for the cash outlay i think.

Any cheap 3x8x4 bearing will do or it has to be something particular?

Thanks

ABEC 3 is fine

Using those baits that reel will probably last forever. I mainly use Lexa 300H, the couple Lexa 400H that I have only get used with double 10/12's, big cranks and pounders (not saying big rubber is hard on reels). The only problem I've had is with them getting dirty. The lower ratio on the reel you bought will be great for big blades as long as you don't want to go super fast.
