So the gentleman I know brought me this lure made by widow mAkers called deadhead...anyone use these? Says they are great for pulling musky up out of weed bed...my question is lure seems to be older do I need to replace hooks or anything b4 using? Hasn't ever been opened so wasn't sure if I needed to mod it in any way?

I've have a deadhead and have caught at least one 40" Musky on it. I don't throw it much anymore. The bait is pretty heavy, but it walks really well in side to side fashion. I don't recall making any changes to the bait. The hooks were fine. You could maybe change out the split rings, but other than that it should be good to go.

Great bait, T- the hooks and you are good to go. I own several and love them. They sometimes move fish when other baits won't.

They are a heavy lure for what they do and how shallow it stays. It is an easy bait to work with a nice short side to side. It is a good bait and you will catch fish on it. If you can find one of his "suick" style baits, it is very good too, has a nice shimmy when you pull it.

25homes, Speed makes some awesome gliders, the deadhead included. I like throwing them with cool to cold water temps and switch over to the sidewinder (can work it a bit quicker) once water warms up some. ToddM mentioned the 'suick' style bait, that is the T-Bone and it is a sweet bait as well. I really like his baits and he is a great guy if you ever talk to him. He recently has came out with a new bait that is similar to a Shum Shum if you are familiar. It incorporates the deadhead bait with a twister tail. Wish they were still $12.50! lol

You know, hoss, I'm not sure how old they are. I know that David "Speed" Jones crafts the glides and jerk bait now, but not sure if Ray and Greg did it beforehand or if they were just solely making bucktails and selling under the WM name. Something to ask I suppose. If you want to rid yourself of that bait, you let me know haha

It's when you bend/ spread out the hooks. Can help with hook ups but really reduces bait rash.
