Posts: 23 | Looking at a new Impact 1775 or 1875. Does anybody know if the rod storage can be modified to fit a slightly longer rod?

Posts: 347 Location: Vilas County, WI | I bought a 2017 Impact 1775 back in September. I asked my salesman if there's a way I can fit longer than 8' rods in the locker. He replied with a sneaky 'yeeeeep' but wouldn't tell me how. It was an awkward conversation. Anyhow, so apparently yes it can be done... but I don't know how. I saw on another forum that you can take the caps off the rod tubes in the center locker to gain a few inches. But my goal is to fit 8'6" or even a 9' rod in the side locker. Hopefully someone will reply who knows some tricks.

Posts: 87 | My first boat was a 1775 impact. The guy I bought it from completely took out the rod tubes by just unscrewing the panel around them. They're all connected and they slide out easy. I believe I could fit 1 or 2 8'6" trolling rods by laying them in so they curve with the bow of the boat. Stiffer Muskie rods, if I recall, didn't fit like the limber trolling rods. I also could fit 8'6" rods in the side locker. Great boat for small/medium bodies of water. Tons of fishing room

My side lockers (2017 Impact 1775) fit an 8' and thats it. There's only about an inch of wiggle room left. No chance an 8'6" will make it in there. Thanks

Posts: 22 | I did make rod holders along both sides of my Impact 1775 for 9' rods and can lock them in if needed. Without drilling in to the side of the boat. In the compartments not yet.

Posts: 22 | Made my own brackets from 2" wide aluminum bent them like an s and wedged them under the rail and secured them at the bottom. Mounted rod holders on to the brackets. On the console side I got some long tubes and custom made a bracket for that side as well. Can now store 4 9' rods out of the way and pff the flat surface of the boat. Can send pics if you are interested I live in Milwaukee.

Posts: 22 | So here are a few pics of the modifications for rod and lure storage. I also have a net holder that secures a Muskie net outside the console. Pic 1- aluminum bar bought at Home Depot. Easy to bend and holes already in it. Pic 2- bracket. Rod holder mounted to the bracket. The bracket was bent and wedged under the rail with one screw down to secure it. Pic 3- larger view. Pic 4- console side. Two long and wide tubes bought at Great Lakes Skipper online. Lund parts. Mounted on painted pvc molding painted black. Pics 5,6- just encase. Got it in a 3 way deal. Real space saver. Attachments ---------------- image.jpeg (194KB - 711 downloads)

Posts: 138 Location: Aurora IL | side locker butts against fuel fill so no way to modify that. However on the starboard side there are 3 tubes with a Velcro tie down, I just measured and there is room for 9 ft rods on an Impact 1775 Bill

I almost got an 1875 but that was the deal breaker. Instead I went with a Skeeter MX 1825. A boat 4 inches shorter but can store rods up to 12 feet in a locked locker.
