| Planning my first trip to LSC sometime this summer and looking for a guide. Who here has gone out with Hulbert either on LSC or Webster area? Any feedback?
Should I be looking elsewhere for an LSC guide? I am definitely interested in casting as we will have a boat of our own so hoping to learn a few things and then venture out ourselves the next day. |

Location: Northern Indiana | My father and I have been out with Mike on LSC. It was our first time on the lake and hiring Mike cut down our learning curve tremendously. I would highly recommend spending a day with him on the water! |

| In my opinion Hulbert is as good as it gets, and expect to be out long hours. |

| check out handlebarz guide service in Ontario. he runs the canadien side where all the u.s.a.. guides run. plus his costs are very reasonable. |

Definitely 2nd Matt "Catfish" Firestein. Always a lot of fun to fish with and very few people know LSC as well as him. A very knowledgeable and humble guy. |

Couldn't agree more - Mike Parker at Handlebarz knows the lake well and will get you on fish. Also happens to be one of the most down to earth and nicest guys Ive met in the musky industry. |

Location: Detroit River | Whoever you choose make sure that they are 100% legal to fish in the waters you'll be fishing. If it's an American guide fishing in Ontario waters make sure they have their Canadian work permit. |

Location: River | I've only fished with Mike Hulbert on LSC. He is a fun guy to fish with. Long hours and hilarious stories can be expected. I booked a few days with him again this year. |

I would hire Matt/catfish as well. I've hired him for eight days in the last two years and he is great and very good with kids and novice fishermen. If you want to jig Bondy is a great choice. Both of these guys are legal guides. |

Location: oswego, il | Big lake, lots of guides, lots of hardons. You cannot blame top name guides for moving around. They are good fisherman, understand the business of guiding and need to make a living. If they were not good at it, they would not be able to do it long. There are no bad guides listed in this thread. Nobody owns the water. I get a kick out of the posse patrol and all their petty jealousy.

| The original poster said he wanted to cast ,not vertical jig or troll too.Mike Hulbert I know for a fact will give you your moneys worth and he is a 100 percent casting.I didn't expect this thread to get so ugly and I'm sure the other guides are great options too.Check Mikes track record he has done very well chasing the so called"hot bite".

Location: mad chain | I have never been in the boat with hulbert but I have fished with Matt. He offers both trolling and casting so depending on weather that can be a big deal and save a trip. Matt is great instructor teaching new techniques along with stories that will keep you laughing all day long. |

Location: Contrarian Island | if I'm not mistaken some of the guides that came to LSC figured out the casting bite faster than the long time guides? maybe I'm wrong on that but just because a guide has been on 1 body of water forever doesn't mean someone else coming in can't teach the old timers a thing or 2.... pick a guide that will teach you how to catch fish, on that body of water, and maybe learn some things to apply on other bodies of water.. lots of good options listed...

Being a crusty old bugger I couldn't guide. Spending a whole day in the boat with someone I would like to throw overboard and couldn't because I was being paid is not for me. |

Not if you are over for a couple days and want to get into the fish. It's a big lake. |

Some of those long time guides just kept their mouths shut & didn't brag about their catches all over the Internet and fishing shows. Though there is a long time guide or 2 that I wouldn't give the time of day because they are set in their old ways.
