What does it take to catch fish?

It sometimes seems like we must eliminate a lot and let a lot of things come together naturally in order to make the catching part happen.

Instead of asking how many times you file your hooks in order to reach a point...

What do you like to add to the equation?

What would you like to add to the equation?

What have you added to the equation?

What do you think we can add to the equation?

How much does it really take to keep all of your hooks sharp?

I am mostly interested in the little things you do to increase your chances without decreasing the experience.

You just need to be doing the right thing at the right time in the right place.

If you can't do that, do the right thing in the right place and wait for the right time.

If you're not sure what the right thing is or what the right time is, be in the right place.

Right time = when the fish are active
Right place = where there are fish
Right thing = what they want

The way to figure all of that out = fishing

So all you need to do is fish and learn from your experiences. It's harder with muskies because there are so few of them, and many times feeding windows are short. But all fish are fish, and muskies pretty much eat them all, so if you can go out and catch whatever fish, you've got most of the pieces in place already.
