Ill be up the same week but at North Shore Lodge. Primarily, I'll be trolling 3-4 mph with 10" jakes, Triple D's and Headlocks. Bouncing off rocks in 10- 20 FOW near deep water.

Posts: 63 | So i can expect to loose a bait or two over the course of a week?

I lose very few.....99% will pull out if you back troll past the bait and pull in opposite direction. 100lbs braid and 130 fluoro leaders save most situations. The few I lose tend to get hung up on discarded rope, cable, logs; rocks are usually no issue. If you are not banging rocks over reefs and points you will catch far fewer....like omitting a figure 8 from your repertoire. Funny but some years I end up with more lures than I started with, courtesy of walleye fisherman who lose their rigs to lesser mono. Edited by wall i 9/10/2015 8:24 AM

Posts: 63 | Have you fish many years in late October?

Many years ago yes.....then the bride insisted on kiddies and my fishing excursions, although many, were focused on "fun fish" and I was bait-handler, fish netter and remover, and peace maker (two boys). Still take 'em every August to LOTW and they are of course seasoned and independent now so lookin forward to resume the Oct trip. Having said that, the lures may change but I doubt the fish have too much. Muskie fishing in Oct is about trolling, banging rocks and like any other time of year....tenacity. Posts: 688 Location: Northern IL | Been going at this time of the year for the last 10 years and it's absolutely my favorite time and favorite trip. This year I'll be fishing with my oldest son and we're really excited about it. This is a trip you will think about all of next year and 10/16 won't get here soon enough! At this time of the year a 40lber is within reach, last year we probably spent more time than we should have targeting walleyes but caught 19 over 7lbs including 3 30"s. Its a beautifully area, you and Dad will have a fantastic time. Best of luck! Edited by jerryb 9/14/2015 9:29 PM

Posts: 22 Location: Monticello Illinois | I'm leaving Friday, 10/9 for Birchdale and fishing Eagle for the first time. We hired Cal Ritchie for the week and I'm really looking forward to it. From talking to Cal this week, the turnover is happening and nearly done. He projects a great fall bite.

Marcel said we are one of the furthest cabins from the lodge but I have no clue which number. Looking forward meeting you guys for some beers and fish stories at the main lodge. Safe travels guys. - Brian

Posts: 321 Location: Glen Ellyn Il | I just finished making a bunch baits for this trip, including a copy of the Headlock and some of mine own version that will easily reach 40 feet, the boat is ready, converted my front live bait on my Yar-Craft to a bait box, so now I can store 12 inch baits. I am ready to go, see you guys at Birchdale Gino

Posts: 321 Location: Glen Ellyn Il | There will be 6 spoonpluggers fishing the west arm and they are multi specie. Jerry B and his partner they are unbelievable, these guys will catch hundreds of fish in 10 days and huge walleyes up to 30 inches, all due to sponplugging knowledge, which includes casting, jigging and trolling, they are trolling down over 40 feet of water, I am the only one from that group that I will only target muskie, willing to put my time for the big sow, but I apply all my sponplugging knowledge to get to the fish. Happy fish hunting Gino
