I have to take my hat off to you! That is an amazing job and I'm sure I'm not the only one that would love to know how you go about getting those awe inspiring results! I have been doing taxidermy, almost all fish, for about 4 or 5 years and your work is very real. I use scale makers and painters templates and other trade secrets but I would love to know how you used the foil or what ever you use! Maybe we could do a trade? Your knowledge for my guiding knowledge on a great musky lake up here in the Great Northwoods?

I'd be glad to trade some but it'll be a while before I can build more because I work so much. |

| Bukes, I'll tell you, I really just do this for fun. I've had a lot of hobbies in the past that I've sort of ruined by getting too serious about them. I was involved in photography for a while and I started doing if for some extra money and the next thing you know I had deadlines and more work than I could keep up with; the next thing ya know I wasn't really enjoying it anymore. I appreciate your question and I'm flattered that you'd ask but I work so much that I try to keep this just for fun.
I'd be glad to give you a lure. Tell me colors you favor and what size. How's that sound? |

| Bayboo, the baits posted are six inches long and weigha about 2 ounces. They can be casted or trolled at about any speed. I've been making them in five sizes from about 3 1/2 inches to about 10 inches and in various thicknesses. I'm still experimenting with different colors, thicknesses, lip configurations, and hook sizes. This winter I had time to build about 40 bodies. Some of them are variations of the Grandma, only thicker and rounder.
I'm also toying with a few jerkbait bodies. I'd really like to get my hands on a lathe so that I can build Eddie-style glider/jerkbaits since I've done well with those for muskies. But the crankbaits shown have produced with consistency for musky, so I've been making quite a few of those, keeping some, giving the rest to friends.
I've done some repaint work, but I don't really care for the prep work thats required. Here's a modified musky-size rattletrap that I did over the winter:
This one is one of my first attempts at a glider built from solid plastic in pearls with a copper back:
Here's what the solid plastic looks like before painting. If you leave the belly alone (without painting it) it has a translucent effect and allows the light to pass through the bait to a degree as you can sort of see in the one that looks like a grandma. It is an interesting material to use but its very hard to shape:
This building stuff is a real disease.
