For the guys using the Ram trolling motor stabilizer, which size are you using? I ordered the longer of the two, which is a bit over 12" in total length. To use this one, it will have to be mounted at quite an angle, but I am not sure if the standard one would be long enough. It doesn't seem as though the stated measurements Ram lists are exact so I am just looking to see what others are experiencing. Submit some photos if you could for reference.

Thanks,
Craig R.

Erico, Thanks for that photo including the ruler. I will check my measurement tonight.

It's not a problem to run at an angle, if it's not too far from vertical or 90 degrees. If the short one doesn't reach, then use the longer one. Put the TM side as far to the top of the shaft as you can, and the lower part on the side of the gunnel if you can, or on the top if you must. It doesn't take much to secure the TM and keep it from flopping.

My cousin works at a marina and is going to get a regular length one for me to try. I was looking at mounting it to the side to get it more vertical, but I didn't like the way it fit.....Thanks for all the input.

I have a 6" RAM mount on my Crestliner 1700 - Terrova on a quick release mount.
I don't necessarily like it mounted on the top of the gunnel - would prefer it on the inside of the gunnel. With the longer arm, I could do the inside, but it would have been at a pretty severe angle.

I have the long one. Mounted inside the gunnel. Works great that way and keeps everything inside the boat.
