Posts: 427 Location: Planet Meltdown | We are fishing with Cal Ritchie all week. We plan on targeting Muskies the entire week but we will see how the week goes. I wouldn't mind tangling with some 30" walleye and football sized smallies as well.

Posts: 239 Location: Elroy, Wisconsin | Willyboy, Fished the third week of Oct. on the Woods, Ice on the windshield, snow ect. Almost exclusively trolling. Banging rocks is the key. Noise of divers, grandmas, Jakes ticking the rocks was the trigger that that produced fish. Speed 3-4 MPH. Two 47's a 49 seven fish 40 to 45. It was miserable weather but the buggers hit. Can't wait to get back Mudpuppy

Gino Im sure you are one photogenic "Italian Stallion"...a 50" makes everyone look good. Come to think of it.....it may take a 55 incher in my case. Are you aware the word "Muskie"comes from the Ojibwa word maashkinoozhe, meaning "ugly pike"? Interesting. If we apply some basic math principle that two negatives make a positive (never quite appreciated that postulate) then, it follows that two uglies in a picture make a pretty.... Anyhoo... next time someone inquires as to what you are fishin.....say "butt ugly pike". Appreciate that theres a really old native linguist somewhere missing a finger or two. Posts: 321 Location: Glen Ellyn Il | Hey Wall I do not know about "The Italian Stallion part" but if a 55" will make me photogenic, I will take a 55 incher any day, for the learning part it's never to late to learn. Good luck and stay safe and the muskie Gods be with you. If you see a white Yar-Craft stop by and say hello Gino Edited by spoonpluggergino 10/10/2015 1:34 AM

Posts: 688 Location: Northern IL | bT, I may have met Cal once or twice but from what I hear you should have no trouble catching the fish you seek. Hard to beat the SM. at this time of the year. Have a great trip!

I spoke with Marcel of Birchdale this morn...said it was quite windy last few days, limiting active fishing time. He was more optimistic on the forecast going forward. Water temp was 54 deg last he checked so the lake has yet to completely turnover. I'll be up there mid day Sunday and whacking rocks before the day is over.

Posts: 427 Location: Planet Meltdown | Great week at Eagle / Birchdale. Cal Ritchie put us onto the fish even in tough conditions. The wind / cold front had us limited later in the week but we stuck it out and came in contact with fish everyday including a super fat 4 footer. Saw lots of quality fish and one absolute giant that we had up to the boat three times in a row. She kept missing the bait. Got a great Northern Lights show the one night, saw a Timber Wolf for the first time..... Awesome trip. Marcel and Tammy were great at Birtchdale.... Man can she cook! Nice meeting you too Gino, I hope the Musky Gods were kind to you.
