Well, I joined the 50" club in a big way on Saturday on Green Bay with a monster 54.25" x 24" fish caught trolling on a perch patterned Lil Ernie. It was a great battle and took what seemed like forever to land the fish. My buddy who went with me had never witnessed a musky being landed before so needless to say he is hooked as well. Spent minimal time with the fish out of the water and she swam away strong so very proud of that. Had one other 42"-44" follow on some blades casting later in the evening during moonrise, but as I was going into my 8, my heel accidentally hit the constant on button of the trolling motor and the fish spooked. Just shows how far I have to go as the fish looked like it was going to eat closing on my bucktail very quickly, but oh well, my day was already made.

I feel a little bit undeserving of catching such a fish because I have only been musky fishing for about 10 years on a relatively limited basis with 3 kids and work. My previous personal best was just over 40" (lost a couple fish in the mid-40s). I guess sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! Now my goal is to get a 50" casting!

Pretty certain I am going to have a replica done and pretty much have it narrowed down to Fittante or Lax. I fish N and S Twin fairly often with my sister having a cabin on North Twin so either place is more or less on the way for me to pick up. Any experiences or suggestions as to which I should choose? Shoot me a message if it's easier.

I don't post very often, but read threads all the time and just want to thank everyone for the great input and advice on this site. I'm constantly trying to get better and make better use of the limited time I do have on the water and this site is a great help! Hopefully I can get a bigger one in the future, but was truly humbled and in awe of the size of this fish.

Wait and see if you win the big fish contest before you pull the trigger and get one made. Both those replica builders you can't go wrong with. The build turnaround is long.

Nice fish!

Beautiful Fish. Congrats! I took my my PB to Fittante a year ago, and I'm still waiting to get it back. I'm sure the wait will be worth it!

Awesome fish. Pics like these and the article in WI Outdoor News about 10,000 muskies recently stocked in the area make me want to make a trip out there one of these years. Kudos to the WI DNR and the local musky clubs in that area. Kudos to you for putting in 10 years of work to land a gorgeous ski.

Thanks for the congrats everyone. I don't get a chance to fish GB that often even though it's only a little over an hour or so away for me. The fishery is very good and hopefully will continue to be good with resuming the stocking program that made it into the fishery it is today. The average size of a GB musky right now is incredible. The day before I fished, I had two reports from friends or friends of friends of 11 muskies caught in a day with the biggest 53" and another report of 5 caught with 2 over 50". When the bite is going, 2-4 fish a day with one of them being at or over 50 is very common. Green Bay is truly one of the best fisheries in the world from late Aug. - Oct. Still learning it myself, but plan on making more trips when I can which can be difficult with an 8, 5 and 2 month old, but thankfully my wife is awesome and I get out when I can!

That is a beautiful Musky! Great job and thanks for sharing your story. I have fished all over the Northwoods of WI. but have not yet had the chance to get out on GB. I'm hoping to soon and can only hope to see a beauty like yours!!

congrats, nicely done! a long turnaround time is a good thing, it gives you time to save the $ up. the two you picked are the best and worth every penny IMO. their mounts look amazingly alive. make sure you enter the contest so you might get a free-be as was previously mentioned.
