PBenson--I had just bought a pearl bondy bait earlier this month, and the 1st outing with it, I had it on for maybe 15 minutes and picked up a 36" in 15FOW. So yeah, I have had some success jigging, and since that day I've tried jigging here and there across the deep part of the basin working with the wind, but have not had any further success with it. I know it's a great way to access those deep neutral fish that are holding tight to the bottom. Do you typically jig along the primary or secondary breakline, or both? Or just go out to the deepest hole and start jigging? Do you let the bait fall to the bottom and then start jigging or do you suspend the jig?? Jw how you've worked the bait to catch as many fish as you have.....that's a very decent track record.

The areas I fish have a lot of long slow drop offs and 100 feet from shore could have 15-35 feet of water. So basically what I do is I'll fish 20 feet for a few passes, if I get nothing I'll move to 25 feet, if I get nothing I'll move to 30 feet, etc. If I get a fish I will check what depth I am at and then fish that for the next 4 or 5 passes to see if it is holding more fish.
And yes I let the bait hit the bottom. A lot of people jig it 1-2 feet, I jig it 4-5 feet. I'm not an expert or anything but this has produced fish pretty consistently for me this year in both the summer and fall.

PBenson- I'm going to be sure to try that approach this weekend out on Monona. When I did catch the 36" on the bondy, I also was doing longer jigs rather than short pulls. I don't know if we are onto something here, but I'll be sure to mix it up this weekend and see what happens......whats your best producing color of bondy's??

Burbot has caught more for me than all other colors combined. Pearl is my second favourite.
