Posts: 20180 Location: oswego, il | Awhile ago, I made a bunch of wood topwater baits and buzzbaits. Most of the wood ones are from smaller blanks that I found cheap. Not much of a painter so I sprayed them black, two coats of envirotex and jb welded the screw eyes. No rear washer so the blade contacts the screw eye for more noise. They all work well and have all caught fish. There are bass to large bass sized. The top one has a 4-blade prop that I "triclopsed" but being 4-blade instead of 3 it does not whip the blades, it rotates much slower which a clinkety clank sound. One of the small ones caught a nice smallmouth on it's first cast. Posts: 20180 Location: oswego, il | Here are a few buzzbaits. All blades counter rotate. Using the big 4-balde plastic buzzer allows for easier lift and a slower moving bait. The metal blades make the noise. You don't have to burn these to make them work and they all work well. There is something magical about the small 4 blade buzzer. It's light and takes a bass rod to throw. it rides pretty flat but it has some magic. The first morning I threw it, got a fat 42" musky, an 18.5" smallmouth and a 17' largemouth. I even had a near 48" fish take a really good look at it. Lots of pike too. Posts: 20180 Location: oswego, il | Thanks here are a few more. Top one is 6" long. Caught some pike and had some muskies look at it. The bottom pic, the bottom bait with the front plastic blade got a big pike for my grandfather the first time we tried it out.
