I have e-mailed and called 4 guides/charters and nobody wants my money I guess. It has been 1 month since I called them so I am looking for suggestions from anyone who has been. We want to target Tarpon and Goliath Grouper. Any suggestions would be great. Planning on the week of April 20th. Thanks, Bones.

" The keys" is very general....where are you staying? Tarpon and Goliath, in the same trip?

Where we stay will be based off the guides location. This is a fishing vacation. When we book a guide/charter then we will get the room booked. My wife works in the hotel industry and her company has multiple hotels in the keys. Tarpon and grouper will be our target fish for the trip, any others will be a bonus. Thanks, Bones.

I have tarpon fished with Capt. Buddy Lapointe a couple times out of Marathon. I would definitely recommend him. We are planning to book him again next year for some shark fishing with our kids.

Captain Pete testa native sun sport fishing, fished a ton and caught several monster tarpon, permit and all the reef/wreck fish

I have fished with a bunch of Keys guides.....IMO the Keys has the greatest collection of guides in the world....and they charge as such. Some of the local legends like Billy Rabito (Sr. and Jr.) and Steve Lamp are top notch, as are so many more. As far as Tarpon and Goliaths in April.......I think any guide who has good fresh bait will be able to put you on those two fish. Tarpon are plentiful in the keys around the bridges during the spring. Goliaths eat everything, are easy to find on every rock pile, wreck, and bridge piling but the trick is landing them.

If you considered Bud n Mary's I recommend Capt Ted Wilson. A veteran of the area and you can see his resume on their website. He has put me on a pile of big tarpon over the years! PM me if you can't find his contact info or want more info...

Ditto for Captain Buddy LaPointe. He's out of Marathon in the Middle Keys and he does it all. He was recommended to me by a local and we did well.

Jack or John Callion are two of the best around the Keys. They are out of Marathon/Long Key area. Callion Fishing Charters on the Web or Facebook. They have done shows with some of the Bigs such as Bill Dance and others. Great guys as well. Highly recommended!

If tarpon in Key West flats is what you're after, check out Captain Danny Sine. Awesome guide and really nice guy!
