Question what is the difference I would pay approx. buying a NEW boat out of state.
Example I spend 40 k on a Ranger in Wis. pay there sales tax but I live in Mchenry county Illinois! Do I pay just the difference in the tax rate?
Thank you,
Darren

Not sure about the people's republic of Illinois, but when I was boat shopping two years ago I was told if I purchased a boat in Wisconsin and registered it in Indiana, I'd have to pay the tax difference to whoever had the higher rate (Indiana was .5% higher) at the time of registration....

Not sure about state to state but in IL if you buy a car, boat, bike, PWC, ATV, Snowmobile etc out of your county you need to pay the county tax you live in.

Taxes are based on where you live. 6.25% is due the state of illinoid when you register it.
