Location: SE Wisconsin | I'm not a mechanically-minded individual, so hopefully someone can tell me if this is a rotted seal that's allowing oil to leak onto the stainless steel piston rod thingy...
What's your opinion here?

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | It looks to be just grease from the steering tube. Could also be a gas oil mix from the motor if its a 2 stroke carbed motor. My boat will leak a lil gas and oil mix from trimming it way up for trailering. I really don't see any problems here. |

Location: SE WISCONSIN | That is just grease and it is supposed to be there it keeps the shaft from sticking when you turn your motor . |

Location: NoDak | that was my thought earlyer today but i wasnt shure on my phone, but i would sugest wipe it off if it is more oily than greesy, with a clean towel and steer back and forth several times ook again, if clean your good, i would then put some lithinim greese back on it, not to much to not promote getting sand gravel and dust acumulated on it |

Location: SE Wisconsin | Thanks for the opinions guys. I have it at the shop now to have my Ranger Trail trailer lubed and serviced, so I asked them to take a look at it yesterday and will see what they say today. I sure hope you guys are right. |

Location: Hayward, WI | It is just grease, you can replace the black seal/wiper to keep it inside the steering tube. |
