In 2012, the Department issued 20 advisories against swimming at state park beaches due to high concentrations of algae-related toxins that could make people sick, according to a Council review of water quality data. In 2013, the Department issued 24 such warnings. Many popular locally managed beaches are not included in DNR’s monitoring program."
And they're scared to swim with muskies. |

Location: Sawyer County, WI | When my sister comes up from Florida to visit, she doesn't want to go in the lake after seeing photos of the musky I've caught off the dock. She doesn't have any issues swimming in the ocean with barracudas and shark though. Go figure. |

| The DNR measured the big fish at 50.9 inches with a 24 inch girth. There were no P.I.T. tags in it so it probably had never been gill netted before so we don't know how old it is. It was stripped of it's eggs and they will be used to get muskie fry for stocking. When they released it back into the lake, it swam off in good shape. While in the hatchery tanks, it puked up a 16-18 inch sheepshead(fresh water drum). |

| if those measurements are accurate that is about as far off as I've seen the C&R weight calculator. I know I've caught some crazy fat pre-spawn Iowa fish in the past...makes me wonder what they actually weigh.

Location: Eagle Grove, Iowa | Im not sold on the accuracy of the Dnr weights . The supposed 42# fish from clear lake come to find out there scale was off 1.5# and there cradle they weighted it in was 5#s and that didn't include the water in the cradle. So it was more like 34#s tops. Not sure how accurate the 49# fish was weghted but it was still a great fish. It brings the people in to the hatchery though to look at them for a few days. |

| The girth was actually 24.5" and this was taken after it puked up the sheepshead. She weighed 45.7 pounds before being stripped. The weights are accurate (within tenths) |
