A few recent posts on books got me thinking...what would your ideal fishing library be? (independent of species, but for most of us musky literature will be top of the list)

Mine is pretty limited, probably why I am asking:

1) Spoonplugging - Guide to Lunker Catches and The 9 Part Home Study Series
2) The Complete Guide to Musky Hunting - Jim Saric

Also have Muskies on The Shield on Order, looking forward to that living in Ontario.

My library would make your head spin!! I probably own 95% of every musky book ever written. Way too many to list here.

Same here, although my "general fishing" books outnumber the muskie books 10-1. I find MOST muskie books about as entertaining as cleaning a 5 gallon pail of smelt.

I haven't read a ton of books but so far my favorites are:

The Secret Life of a Lake: The Ecology of Northern Lakes and their Stewardship - Peter Tobiessen
Muskies on the Shield - Dick Pearson
Musky Strategy - Tom Gelb
Muskies My Way - Jim Saric

That first one is not a fishing book, but it explains the lake's history, chemistry, and ecosystem in fairly concise and simple way.

I am with you, I find the older books very interesting as to how the sport has evolved. I have all of Tony Rizzo's books, Tom Hollatz has some great reads. The entire MHM set, Time on the Water, etc, as well as all of the newer books out there. Both Rizzo and Hollatz have interviewed some of the old time greats like Dean Porte, Ray Kennedy, some of these guys were born 100 years ago and of course are long gone but the methods from the 40's, 50's and 60's are still with us.
