It's a great rod. Tell you what, give the "search" function a shot here on the site and you'll find alot of discussion on this very rod. The Sling Blade and the Big Dawg are both great rods that get talked about and recommended alot.

Welcome to the site.

I just ordered a new full cork one from st croix two days ago. My buddy has two of them in split grip and we agree that they are by far our favorite rods. You can cast anything from small bucktails to mag dawgs with it no problem. And yes, it will cast a pounder! lol but it's more of a lob cast. The tip has about the perfect balance of sensitivity and flex and yet the rod has a ton of backbone. There are alot of other good rods out there for less money, but after using the st croix rods, I can't resist them ( legend series anyway ). They are just so well balanced and so light. I know that a few ounces of weight sounds like a stupid difference, but it makes a huge difference if you are casting the rod all day. We basically only cast and will often times cast for 5-8 hours straight, so if you plan on doing the same, believe me, that few ounces less on the weight will be the difference between being worn out, making sloppy casts and still going strong, wearing yourself out dragging that big boy to the boat.

Amazing rod.

Factory rod needs two upgrades to make it a dream rod. Longer handle and thicker cork

lip stick is 9 inches shorter (22.5 cm) and has a moderate (parabolic) action rather than a fast action.

and the lip stik was born for fish with a specific bait?
the parabolic action helps for avoid the loso ofthe fish?
thanks

Yes, lipped crank baits. The parabolic action does help to keep the fish hooked but more importantly it gives the crank baits a better action, wider wobble.
The rod works very well for a variety of lures (I really like it for small to medium jerkbaits) but if I had to choose between the 2 I'd go with the longer sling blade.
