I'm looking for a new jerkbait rod in the $100-$180 range. I'm going to use it for gliders and dive/rise. I'm looking at a 7'2" XH compre or 7'6" H premier. Is there anything else in the price range that I should take a look at? Thanks.

take a look at the lineup offered by Black River Rods.
http://blackriverrods.com/

they've got a nice range of casting rods for different muskie fishing applications, from 7' through 8'6" and even offer trolling/livebait rods. i liked them well enough to switch over from other big name rods.

i know they'll have a booth this Sunday at the New London show, and are available at numerous retailers including Rollie & Helen's for $100.

Tooth Tamer has some great rods right in your price range. We will be in Eau Claire, Wausau and New London this weekend.

John, what's going on in Eau Claire this weekend? I'll be in the Eau Claire area and didn't know of any show going on. Is there something going on worth heading to?

7'6" Premier is a great all-around rod. I used to own 2 of the same rod, but sold 1 to buy an 8' MH. % year warranty is not bad and they can take some abuse! The fish suicks, sledges, berts, and gliders great!

Get an action in XH and get one at least 8ft long. I throw gliders and jerks with 8's and 86's without issue. No water slapping, in and have done it in an esox magnum. Even if you slap the water, no big deal, sometimes I work a glider with the rod o foot into the water to get it deeper anyway and it is so nice to have that advantage at the boat no point in putting yourself at a disadvantage!

Make sure you go with XH, that 7'6" length seems to be a great length for making Suicks and gliders come alive...not sure what the price is anymore but my go to is a 7'6" Avid XH, awesome jerkbait rod.

Sorry Curleytail, I was headed to the show in Wausau and didn't take the computer with. There was a first time sport show in Eau Claire. I guess it was good, the one in Wausau was really slow.

I would recommend the Tooth Tamer 7'6" med/heavy or heavy action rod. But your height and how high your deck is to the waters surface make a big difference to. I like the rod tip to just hit the surface of the water on a down jerk.

I still have a few left I am willing to sell for $110 (USA) or $120(Canada) delivered to your door. Shipping in the USA is $20 and Canada is about $30 so that should be a good deal for you if you like my rods...
Take a look: www.tackleindustries.com
email me if you want one: [email protected]
Thanks

No problem John. Hftb sent me a message telling me about the show in Eau Claire. I was only about a half hour from Eau Claire most of the weekend but never made it to the show. I'll have to check out the Toothtamers at the MN show though.
