Location: Northern Wisconsin | Right now im stuck on the 8'6" xh, 8'6" xxh, 9'3" xh and 9'3" h. I don't need a rod for HUGE rubber such as pounders or 11" sues. I'm looking for a rod to throw Mag Dawgs and double 10's. My current favorite/main rod is a St. Croix premier 8'mh rated 1-3 oz. so I want to be able to throw what ever is too heavy for the St. Croix on my new okuma. Thanks! Location: Northern Wisconsin | why the xxh for mag dawgs and xh for pounders when mag dawgs weigh less than pounders? Im also considering the 9'3" H okuma. how does the action of this rod compare to a st. croix 8' mh? thanks

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | I'd go with the 8'6 xh or the 9'3 H for mag dawgs. The 8'6 xxh and the 9'3 xxh are a tad too heavy for mags. You can throw them on the 9'3 xh, but I like a little lighter action on them so I usually throw them on the 8'6 xh. (I don't have a 9'h yet)

Location: Des Moines IA | The 8'6 XXH handles double 10's better, and will still throw a mag dawg nicely.

Location: Northern Wisconsin | i wish i could get my hands on them to see how they feel. which one would be similar to the st. croix premier 8'6" xh? I have handled this rod before and it seems fine for both mags and double 10's... i wouldnt want to go much heavier than that.. is the xxh heavier than this rod?? sorry for so many questions i just want to make sure I get the best rod for application

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | I don't throw much big rubber either, but use DCGs a lot. My favorite rod for DCGs is the 8'-6"XH. The 9'-3" H also works well. I personally think the 8'-6"XXH is a little too stiff for DCG's and the like. I can throw a magnum bulldog with the XH, but haven't thrown anything heaver. The rods are great, and cheap enough so you can get two. Great value! Doug Johnson

Posts: 582 | I have the 8'6' XXH and bought it to throw large heavy baits. Its a tough rod, but if you aren't throwing ultra heavy baits the XH will do just fine for you. The XXH is really for the biggest plastics etc...

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Leh, these are great rods for the money. I had an 8'6" XH. I now have an 8'6" XXH. Haven't been able to use the XXH yet, but it also looks like a great rod. You don't have to worry about breaking the rod due to the telescopic feature. There is really no downside to the telescopic feature that I have found. Great rods - use them without any worries. curleytail

Location: Northern Wisconsin | I did lots of research before I bought mine and never came across anyone who had issues breaking them. If they do break it has a lifetime warranty so hopefully you could get it replaced.

I've given them a good ride the past two years and haven't had any issues to date (the 8'6 xh on their 3rd season this year and the 9'3 xh and the 8'6 xxh on their second seasons this year). No worries about the telescoping feature of the rods. They are well build and do what they are made to.

Location: MN | I used the 9' 3" H last season for Mag Dawgs, Dbl 13s & 10s, and as a trolling rod. Great rod for all purposes above except a little on the light side for dbl 13s in the figure 8.... the rod loaded too much. I am planning on purchasing at least one XH this year for dbl 13's and big rubber.
