Bought some super shads.

Pumped to use them.

Should I twitch this bait, or is it better to reel and pause?

blue/ sliver

and Baby bass color

All and any info and methods used for super shads, rod preference on this type of bait, leader preference also

thx.

I've had success by adding a split ring and then using it as a twitch bait. Kdawg

I would let the fish tell you what they want. I like to get real aggressive with twitch baits, but just sometimes a straight retrieve in works as well. If they follow and are lazy, get more side-to-side twitching or reel faster and give that "L" turn an real fast and big sweep into the "8".

Of course, what kdawg says is also good, split ringing the nose of the bait, which is what I always do as I don't trust snaps.

Great bait and you won't be disappointed.

I love this bait,

I have had luck slow swimming on the top, fast retrieve, twitches, hard pulls, and trolling up to 5mph. Its a great bait for use when smaller baits are needed (spring, post cold fronts, etc.).

I have had a lot of success on Super Shadraps for muskie - But never throw them with out a few minor changes:
About 5 years ago Dan Sura (In-fisherman) showed me how he cuts the bill at the bend (I just use a hacksaw then file). This makes a great erratic twitch bait. I also change splitrings and hooks to 4/0 VMC's. I could post a pic tonight if anyone's interested.

Yes, post a picture if you could. I have noticed that they are very buoyant and pop up pretty quick if you dont keep them moving. I think I'm on my third one because the lips snap off. Now I have two that are walk-the-dog surface baits!

great for weeds too. They just seem to come through better then many others...of couse a pause is still needed when you make contact.

I forgot about the hooks. The ones on there are too small. A buddy was relating to me how he missed a lot of big walleyes trolling these baits in Canada. His solution, replace the front hook to a 5/0, you can leave the rear hook as those muskie hit the head of the bait anyways.

Great search bait that fish EAT - (hooks much better than any glide bait) and you can get a tight fast "walk the dog" action - As mentioned above - lips do come off after several fish or if you bang rocks often.
