I was simply floored this weekend....once again the kindness of people and the friendships that I have built in this crazy sport is something that is very special to me and is one of the things that makes this sport so special.

This weekend at the Chicago Musky Show I was working in my booth with 2 of my best friends, John Bette and Kevin Cochran. John pulled me out of my booth, along with Kevin and told me to "Come check this out..." I said, "John, this better not be stupid, it's Saturday of the show and nobody is in my booth right now." He replys..."It is stupid, but you HAVE to check this out."

I follow John throught the show and into the last isle....as I turn the corner I see about 10 of my best friends standing there with big smiles on their faces.....and they just happen to be standing in front of Joe Fittante's booth....I still don't have a clue as to what I am doing....

I stand there for about 30 seconds....still wonding "What the hell is going on, and why are all my friends standing here smiling?"

John Bette then tells me that him and 14 others all wanted to do something nice for me and they all pitched in and got me a replica done....WOW.....I was floored, about dropped me straight down....

John did something special with me this May, in the Hoosier Classic he boated a gorgeous 49 incher. I wanted to get a mount done of that fish as it was the biggest musky anybody had caught out of my boat in Indiana, plus it also proved to be part of the winning combination of that tourney.

So there I am, surrounded my all my friends, which some are good clients that have turned into great friendships, and others are just friends that I have had for years.

I am thinking that I will be ordering the mount today....but to my suprise, Mr Fittante pulls out the most gorgeous mount I have ever seen in my life. A DEAD on, exact copy of John's fish. Again, completely floored....

I just wanted to say thanks to all of those that did this for me, as it was by far the coolest and best thing anybody has every done for me. Thanks John, Tom, Shane, Steve, Rick, Deisel Dan, Petey, Geoff, Paul, Matt, Pete K, Brad, Dan, Kevin, Steve and my Mom. I owe you guys big time. Thanks a ton! John had this in the works since May, and how these BONE HEADS keep it a secret for so long without slipping is beyone me....great work.......

Also wanted to say thanks to Joe Fittane for an awesome mount, it is the best thing I have ever seen. Joe does an incredible job on his fish, artwork that is second to none! I would highly recommend Joe for any fish that you would like to get a mount of. His work is second to none. Check out: http://www.fittantereplicas.com His work is amazing.

Thanks again to all did this for me....you guys are awesome. I truely appreciate it. You guys are great friends and I am lucky to be surrounded by people like you!

Hulbert, looks like your friends drink too much.

My buddy did that to me last year. Very nice and a Joe mount as well.

Muskie folks are the best. You have donated HUGE amounts of time for good causes Mike, right here on MuskieFIRST, and good things happen to good folks. Now if you would JUST wear long pants once during the winter...

awesome, dude, congrats. Now, you should tell everyone it is a real mount that died after a 15 hour battle-to-the-death.

Of course it's not like you''ve done anything good, like taking that guy with the O2 bottle out for his first fish (great story in Musky Hunter on that, by the way). See, it all comes around. m

It's funny, but that was the mount I was discussing with Joe earlier that day (liked the pose). Awesome piece of work, the guy is amazing with those paint jobs.

Glad you signed on for that mule deer hunt with me in Montana, should be a hoot.

It is definately cool to have friends like this....but like I told them at the show, now I expect this type of treatment from now on!!! LOL

Also Norton, the mount is DEAD on, the belly is the EXACT same.
