Was it me or did anyone else see how clear the water was from Catherine down to Bluff lakes today? Lightening and I saw plenty of fish but no takers from 7am to 4pm. We threw everything but the kitchen sink, don't think that would have worked either. Anyways, just wanted to let you all know if you go to the Fox Chain the water is clear all the way to 1/2 way thru the channel to Spring Lake. Good luck all.....

Fished it last Saturday and the water was very clear, and no Ocean Liners or Rocket Boats this early in the season!

The Rocket boats and Ocean liners started popping out of the woodwork yesterday. If next weekend is as nice as Sunday was it will be Dipsh*t central. Stick to the weekdays Boys!

Did anyone have any luck this weekend on the Chain.
We saw fish cruising but weren't interested in the least.

Anyone have any luck on the Chain. I saw a fish and had a 5-6 lb strike. The chain even after the rain is incredibly clear? Did anyone have any luck?

Fished the Chain all day yesterday. Marie and Bluff are starting to lose some of the clarity that we saw a couple weeks ago. But they're still better than usual. Channel and Catherine are still really clear though.

And as usual, we still had no luck! Five years of fishing there and feel like I'm nowhere closer to developing a pattern for that body of water. Saw a few fish, but still no takers. I blew the best opportunity that I had at the end of the day. We're just about back at the launch, and I half-heartedly finished a cast without an L-turn or a figure eight. As soon as I was lifting the bait out of the water, an upper 30s/40 inch fish came zooming in on a Bulldawg. Looked pretty hungry too. But as soon as I slapped the bait back into the water, it turned tail and never looked back. With that kind of water clarity, I can't imagine how cool it would be if the fish were actually on! I could still see that fish heading down into deeper water about 15 feet from the boat.

I fished all day also on Channel & Bluff. Saw a lot of carp but that was it. Are there really muskies in there, or are they just stories people make up?

I was out there today and didn't see a Musky, but the water is still clear as hell. I dropped a bucktail down 12 feet on Catherine and could still see it.

I do know there are Musky out there though. I had one on a couple weeks ago, but it shook my hook on a jump.

Hi Savvy,

I was out yesterday as well and had a follow. The fish was small maybe mid-thirties at best. I pull that fish up on a Cobbs countdown. Otherwise I enjoyed being out on the water.

Thanks

Musky54,
This is very typical of the Chain in the spring. Last year on Catherine we has visibility down to 18 feet!

I've had 12 follows during my three attempts with no takers this spring.
In a couple weeks it will look like the bottom of a portable John after a FRV tourney.

Heading up to the Ottawa for the opener and some off roading and prestine untouched lakes next weekend.
