Subject: Fall Bait Choice Evolution?

Just saw a post asking about topwater timing, and had a follow up question to that:
When do you start switching (if you do that is) away from topwaters and hair to more "classic fall" presentations like dragging meat, deeper cranks, big plastics and big jerkbaits.
AND do you have a progression as to what you think works more as the water gets colder? And of course, why why why why? Gotta love muskies, half the fun is the strategizing for the future hunts!

Fish'em til ya puke!
