Me too. Going to have our four grandchildren here, 3 of whom were born within the last 9 weeks. The rocking chair will get some use and I will help feed the babies but have let it be known: I have changed my last diaper, years ago.

It's been a long hot summer here in the front range. It will be in the 90's till Sept 9th, Just going to lie low throw something on the barbecue. I was up early today and went on a Cabela's run to replace some hot Mepps spinners (had a Lake Trout bite one off this early summer) and another got bent to pieces because I caught so many fish on it. (Rainbows) In a couple weeks take mom on a leaf peeping tour and throw in one my ultra lights and the Trout are like footballs in the fall.(fat)

I'll head down to one of the local boat ramps, with a folding chair, a cooler, and a camera.. Following that I'll head up north for several weeks, and then do a Cave Run trip in October.

Central around portage. We were going to chase kings but the NE winds are borderline so not taking that chance.

Well, Portage sometimes calls itself gateway to the north.

It gets very busy around Labor Day so I’ll stay local don’t if I would do anything but nothing this year. In a week or two I’m planning a little trip.

It's the split. Seems like central but I suppose Stevens Point really is.

I'll go along with that, seeing as I breathe a sigh of relief taking Exit 108 off 90/94.. The Dells crowd wears me out..

Now the airport with airline service into Wausau, calls itself "Central Wisconsin Airport", so..

True, but it serves not only Wausau but is the primary airport for Stevens Point, Wis. Rapids as well. They have a few more flights out of those cities today but when Central Wisconsin Airport was built and named that was as close as you could get to either.

Actually flew in/out of CWA for several schedule cycles when I was still doing that.. The VOR is still on the Stevens Point airport, and it was our first fix outbound and last fix inbound, before shooting whichever approach was in use that morning..

Hopping on the Wayback Machine..

STE had airline service in the early '70s.. Midstate used to operate a Beech 99 O'hare, Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, and Marshfield, a couple times a day.

North Central (remember "Herman") served Chicago, Duluth, Eau Claire, Green Bay, Madison, Minneapolis, Oshkosh, and Rhinelander out of CWA, with a mish mash of routes..

It's all about perspective, but I always felt central Wi. was from Hwy. 21 north to Hwy 8. This came from growing up in Milwaukee and making many trips to N. Wi.
