Location: Pewaukee, WI | Welding rod can be found in that thickness, but it is s softer material then s.s. wire. One suggestion, if your intended use of that is on bucktails, you'll find it difficult stuff to work with and a Musky will still make a pretzel out of making it hard for you to straighten out.

| Thanks. I do have some pre looped .062. I just threw the spanky fireball for the first time this wknd and It’s awesome. Love the weight. And 3/4 of my showgirls /cowgirl shafts are all bent without even catching a fish. Not goin that small anymore. I’m gonna replace shafts and add more weights. I just started getting into making the bucktails. Made one 4 oz 9” dble fluted w .059 and runs perfect. Just wanted to try the .072. I suppose finding the beads and clevices is a pain. |

| Moore's Lures has .071" if that helps. Around p 20 - 22 in catalog.

| Oops Sorry, forgot to mention.
He should have beads and clevices also, I remember once making B Tails for a couple friends similar to the old Muskie Fin s from his parts.
Actually he has just about anything for lure making, especially "Buck Tails" and is a great guy .

| Awesome thanks. I already buy stuff from Moore’s if he has it I’ll try him. And I’ll check out local welding supplier also. This first bucktail I made is raising more fish than anything this last week, including gettin smoked by the biggest fish I’ve ever seen.(bit the blades with no top hook), so gotta make some more. I don’t know if it’s cause the weight , (it’s heavy ) or the long 1 tie tinsel , or. Cause I ordered fine tinsel on accident, but the fish are loving it. That one was .059 on #6 Clevis |

if you look for a good strong wire forget fishing shops in your town or in the internet. Stainless welding wire is a "soft" wire. For lures you need a hard stainless wire also called "spring wire" or "spring hard wire". In Germany such a wire has the material number 1.4310 (nearly similar to AISI 302, AISI 304). I don't now the correct US norm/declaration.

Such a wire you can find at dealers for steel or in factories who make springs for the industry. There you can get this wire in coils or straighten. You also find such a wire in the dental area. But there you have to pay to much for such a wire.
