I want to replace my princraft trailer on my 142 tiller. Nice boat i really like it. I have never liked getting the boat off the trailer. I have tried the bunk spray, have roller bunks on it now but getting the boat off by myself has always been difficult. It has kept me from fishing a few lakes i have always wanted to try and fish. Loading has always been a snap.

I started looking for a used roller and for some reason now i found quite a few decent ones. For some the roller trailers i see out there, the frame does not extend to the rollers leaving where you would normally strap the boat, well under it. Do you still strap it to the frame ends with a long strap?

Look up BoatBuckle F14221 G2 Retractable Gunwale Tie-Downs. You won't regret it. Mount them to the side rail of the trailer with their bracket if you can't fab your own.

Hiya,

For some of the older roller trailers out there, one would still run a full tie-down strap over the gunnel near the rear of the boat, down to the frame.

My father had this issue on an older shoreland'r trailer he had. He installed eye bolts to each side to use as his tie-down location.

If I may ask.. can you send a picture of the trailer in question to 612-25-3158?

Reason I ask is some trailers have quite a bit of adjustability in them, and am curious if the trailer you are considering has this ability....

Thanks

He will likely need another digit on that phone number unless you send him a PM.

i've always fished alot by myself and well i don't know your ramp situation. but i have a 50' long launch rope, one end has a snap and the other a loop. so i clip it onto the boat with the snap and put the loop end around my winch handle, then lay the coiled untangled rest of the rope laying on the bow. unclip boat from trailer including all tiedowns. then i just back up slowly until the boat just floats off. no matter how far i got to go the ramps for me have had hard bottoms. then i just pull up slowly until the winch end of the trailer is out of the water , put the truck in park, walk around grab the rope and then tie the boat to the dock. been launching my boat this way for over 50 years and always have just floated them off. no problem, no wet feet, and all of my trailers have had plain carpeted bunks. hope this might help ya out.

A trailer like this. There is one lake i want to fish i have backed down the ramp twice and the boat isnt wet and my rear tires are in the water. Not getting my boat off level and dry.

i had a pro 142 console with a easy loader trailer and it was too high too ! a princecraft trailer is much lower since the boat is between fenders not over them, could be an option if you find one .

I have the trailer shown at the link below. I could launch my boat on the side of a ditch if I had to. The boat rolls off of this trailer so easily, it scared me at first. I never had a roller trailer before, but after having this, I prefer roller trailers for launching alone. Grease the roller shafts on all the rollers and you will be amazed how easy you can launch and load. If you buy this trailer, replace the bolts that allow the rollers to "hinge". If you can weld, have someone weld in a sleeve where the bolt rides and oversize it. Also rollers without the "flats" launch easier, but are harder to load. If you drive the boat on, the flats help to keep the boat from rolling backwards. There is a trade off, but I prefer the round rollers. If you make it to central IL, look me up. I would be more than happy to take you out fishing and show you how my rig launches and loads. I have an alumacraft lunker 165 mag tiller so my boat isn't that much bigger.

My princecraft did not come with the sit between the fenders trailer. A buddy of mine bought the same boat his does.

Ryan, i just missed that trailer on craigslist, went to refind it the add is not gone. There is another one i found same roller bunks but they do not tilt. The one in the picture is the one i am going to look at. How do you run the tie down straps to the back of the boat?

Mark, thanks for the offer. I could fix the 100 dollar shorelander i just bought by cutting the frame, rewelding but i would have more in it than what i am finding some better suited trailers for.

I run the boat buckles that are "gunwale" tie downs (see link below). I mounted them on custom angled brackets to keep the strap off the spray rails of the boat. PM me your email and I will send you some pics when I get to the lake tomorrow.

I ended up getting that karavan trailer in the picture. 6 year old new, tortion suspension, 2k lb axle, grease through spindles, no rust, $550.
