Hi, I'm looking at starting my opener in green bay/ fox river this year, what are some decent hotels in the area to stay at with boat and truck parking? Also might hire a guide 1 or 2 days. Who would you recommend? any other info would be great. thanks

I have stayed and actually just last night stayed at the Hilton Garden inn by the stadium in Green Bay. They have parking for a boat behind the building. There is also a Marriot chain hotel very close that has parking room. There is a Quality inn by the stadium that does not have much for parking. In fact last night I was walking by and some fisherman looked like they couldn't find parking in their lot for the boat. There is also some very good bars to walk to from here by the stadium for a beer or food. I have stayed at the Holiday inn a couple miles from the stadium. There is also about 4 other hotels near there. I honestly would not feel comfortable having my boat in the parking lot in that area but that's just me. That Holiday inn does not have room for a boat. I'm not sure about the hotels near downtown.
I have fished 2 openers there and have nothing to show for it. I don't know who to get for a guide but I would think most are already booked for opener and if any are available I would book them. If they are guiding there they have more info than most of us. Good luck! Let us know how you do.

If Ryan Grant is not booked, I would go with him. Lives in GB and has been fishing the bay for over 20 years. He also has quite a few less pressured waters that he fishes.

The weekend is always nuts for the first couple weeks but if you go during the week you will find it's not bad. Plenty of other rivers to fish on the bay for opener if you want to avoid the crowds
