I have an old 2004 Tracker Targa with a 90 horse Mercury 4 stroke motor.
Boat is in nice shape but motor needs replaced. I am thinking about a new Mercury 90 4 stroke to replace the old one. This would save me from having to change the controls for a different brand motor.
I don't have the whole family fishing with me in the boat as kids have grown. I also don't seem to fish as much as I used to. The question is, would you replace the old motor with another 90 horse or drop down in size/price? Boat was originally set up with a 60 horse but I had upgraded to the 90. |

I knew the boat would be under powered with the 60.
Wondering if I should spring for the 115? |

Get the maximum you can on the boat for what you can afford. If you ever do decide to resell the boat at some point, the higher the HP on the boat, the better the boat looks to buyers.

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Negotiate with your Mercury dealer about re-powering with Mercury. Most manufacturer's have a re-powering customer spiff/incentive! I got a full 6-year factory warranty when I re-powered with Evinrude.
Keep it @ 90hp, you can use your old prop(s), and you might need the extra speed to run from storms...

| What did that cost for the swap? Did you sell your old motor or trade it in the deal. I'm considering the same thing that you just did. |

My old motor blew up, literally! Connecting rod out the side of the block. Bought the motor from Starks in Prairie Du Chein, WI. |
