Posts: 573 Location: Germantown, WI | My family and I will be visiting Yellowstone National Park and staying near the north entrance near Grandier, MT. I will be there for about 10days in mid June. I don’t fly fish, but plan on taking a telescoping rod and spinning reel with me. I would like to try a few different spots. Anyone able to point me in the right direction either inside or outside the park for fishing opportunities ( what rivers or stretches of rivers)? What about tackle to use with spinning rod- thinking some small spinners like rooster tails.... Appreciate any insight you can provide Thanks in advance Edited by dward 3/21/2018 11:53 PM

Posts: 330 Location: SE Wisc | Lots of hiking trails out there parallel water. Just pick a few and give em a try, or stop by the ranger station at the north entrance and ask them, I’m sure at least one of them will be a stream fisherman. Buy some bear spray.

Posts: 17 Location: Florida | I never took a lot of time to fish when I've been in Yellowstone but I did see trout and some good ones. When I have fished out West one lure has always produced for me- a gold Jake's Money Clip. I suggest flattening the barbs if you are cnr. Caught big fat Goldens in the Wind River Range, along with Cutts, Lakers, Browns, and Brookies. Got some fat rainbows in Colorado too. I searched various forums and did find some pretty good info on fishing Yellowstone a few years ago. Of course I don't remember any of it now..

Posts: 18 | Yellowstone river has a beautiful strain of fish, fisherman bridge in park is a zoo worth watching. Good fishing all around. Be sure and check regulations, it varies stream to stream, some are fly only, barbless...
