So I throw mostly crankbaits, swimbaits and bucktails/spinnerbaits. Mostly single blade magnum musky/musky killers and cranks and swim baits 3 oz max. I have a diawa Lexa 300, 7.1 and would like another reel for a second set up. Not sure what to get? Do I go with a little slower speed? Being new to tiger muskie fishing I am still getting used to the heavier reels. Could I get away with a lews super duty for smaller cranks(>2 oz) and number 5/6 single bucktails?

Kinda the same question i asked earlier. Lexa 300 seems to be the ticket for small baits, maybe u need a smaller speed like a 5.1:1

I really like my Lexa wn 300. Really like the Winn grips. Haven’t fished with it yet but have casted it in the yard lol. Maybe I should get another 300 in the 6 speed gear. Would 28” IPT be enough?

With those sized lures, another Lexa 300 would be fine in that same gear ratio.

I really like the Lexa 300, but it is heavier(10.5 oz) than what I am used to. I know it’s not heavy compared to most other muskie reels, but I am used to bass size reels. Would a lews super duty(7.7 oz) hold up with the smaller baits? Was looking at the 7 speed with 31” IPT. Or should I just go with the 300 and get used to the extra weight?

Lews super duty would be great. I fish tigers here in the spring and I have two of the super duties I use for traps, Mepps #5’s and small swim baits. I couldn’t be happier with them.

Went with the new lews super duty g. Like the Armour handles and thumb bar excited to try it out for a small bucktail reel and for the smaller stuff I won’t be throwing much on my Lexa.
