Anyone use a 7.1.1 Baitcaster for tigers? I will be for throwing mostly bass sized spinnerbaits and maybe a few larger rapalas. I have a 5.4.1 for th bigger stuff. And a couple 6.4.1’s. Just wondering if it would be beneficial to have a faster gear ratio for some stuff? Thanks

The important question is what reel model you are using

A size 200 bass reel will not performe the same way as a size 400 muskie reel, even if the ratio is the same.

I use a revo winch in 5.4.1. And the 7.1.1 I am looking at is a Revo SX. Th tigers in my area tend to go for medium bait’s. I havam some bull dawgs and bigger buck tails but we catch most of our tigers on 1/2 oz spinnwrbaits or 5 1/2” rapalas. My other reels pick up 22” and 26” of line. The 7.1.1 picks up 29”.

I would assume that the lower geared reel would be better for harder pulling baits like bladed baits and crankbaits.

It will be fine for twitching crankbaits and picking up slack line. Some spinnerbaits may cause alot of drag depending on blade size and type.

I would not use a revo sx for musky, I did use a revo winch without issue and I did use a revo inshore without issue. The inshore is a 7.1/1 super smooth fast and has a longer handle than the sx, still double paddles but the knobs are farther apart... that and the strength of the handle/reel all togerther is better with the inshore. But for bull reds...
