Posts: 64 | Hey boys! Has anyone had luck fishing into the night after sun down this time of the year? I managed a 47.5 after dark boat side mid Sept, but with the water temps coming down and the nights getting chilly; I’m cerious if it’s worth the adventure out!??

Posts: 343 | I picked up a tiger at 5:30 AM yesterday morning on a topwater, so I'd say keep going.

Posts: 2240 Location: SE, WI. | Musky feed after dark 365!!!! Pick your times, conditions and spots strategically to put the odds in your favor and to build confidence!!! This time of the year is my favorite, cause most of the musky guys have put their boats away and in their recliners after dark! This 46"er ate a blade Monday night on a custom built spinnerbait:) JD Edited by jdsplasher 10/13/2017 9:59 AM Attachments ---------------- IMG_0225[2].JPG (70KB - 364 downloads)

Just a reminder, even though it may be only 7:30 PM, in the fall that means its dark. Please use your lights. Last fall I almost t-boned a guy sitting in the channel, fishing without his lights on. I was not going fast but he must have forgotten he didn't have the stern light up or wasn't paying attention to what was going on. I came around the bend and there he was broadside in the river, casting. Bad enough when I am sitting outside by the fire pit in the fall and hear a boat working the shoreline in the dark with no lights, but in a twisting river?

Posts: 1425 Location: St. Lawrence River | Just as a confidencw booster to the OP, went out last night popped a 42 first cast on the second spot, and had a 48+ go round about 12 or 13 times in the 8 boatside. Yes literally 12 or 13 times around!!

Posts: 133 | Just a question because I have never night fished and am a little curious how you could see a fish go around on the figure 8? ....i have a hard time seeing in the water early morning and late evening.

Posts: 2240 Location: SE, WI. | Brad, make sure you have a headlamp with a red or green light on it. You can easily see follows with those on. I use the red. JD Edited by jdsplasher 10/14/2017 9:59 AM

Are you fishinf in crystal clear water like i am? With any amount of moon at all i can see one coming from 10ft away from the boat.... Red or green light works too, but if you go complete stealth mode in the dark, you would be amazed how well your eyes adjust and you gain "night vision.".... flip a head lamp on for a minute and you lose it. Then it takes a few mins to get your night vision back. Edited by JakeStCroixSkis 10/14/2017 12:03 PM

Posts: 1425 Location: St. Lawrence River | Thuawk - 10/14/2017 1:29 PM Ya ive never tried night fishing... But sure seems like alot of people enjoy it! 1) its extremely productive, if you move a nice fish, come back on her at night 2) far less boats. (Unless your in a notorious night fishing region like myself, where its a ghost town during the day in August, and a zoo at night...)

Posts: 133 | Ya where I fish I don't think there is much night activity at all. I'm going to give it a shot. I fish a ultra clear lake in my region too.... Think I should try the night bite... Might be real good
