Looking at replacing my 300ej. Which reel would be a good replacement, Tranx 300hg, or the Komodo 364. Used on a top and tail for top water prop baits, pacemaker like, and spinner baits up to 1.5oz.

Boy I have both and I don't think you could go wrong either way.

I replaced mine with a 300 HG Tranx and am very happy with it.

Why replace it? I have 2 ejs and 1 E. Aside from the 500 HG, I think they're the best out there...

Ever since I got it, I've had nothing but drag problems, and spool bearing failures. I've sent it to shimano many times for repair and even had pikemaster go through it and upgrade it. I get to fish 1 or 2 weeks a year and this week on the 2nd day the drag failed again. Believe me if I didn't have these issues I would keep it.

The 300 Tranx is super awesome, have 2 of them one in each ratio.
