| Is it common to see some of your favorite spots that produced year in and year out for years become part of the dead sea? |

Location: Ashland WI | I have had that happen to me before. 2 years ago, I had a spot that I caught a 47, 36, and moved multiple others. All last year and this year , I have not seen a single fish there. I fish it quite often as well because it is fairly close to the landing i use. |

Maybe but i think the population has dropped off a cliff. Now i catch LOTS of pike that used to be a rare thing. |

Location: oswego, il | I have seen pressure shut spots down. Your spot is somebody else's spot too. More than one person catching fish from it. Who is to say you didn't fish it not long after a fish had been caught there?

Location: MN | No changes to the area? I've had it where maybe a nice weedbed gets killed off by a home owner ect or someone once dropped cribs in an area and the fish shifted outside what had been a productive area. Was this a spot that produced all year or just certain times of the year? |

| No structure changes really. Crappie die off last couple springs. Lots of pike caught. 24" size but quite beefy for the length. Im talking lots of hot spots and really little to show. Pressured is a given but you dont really get the follows even anymore. |

Location: Tulsa, OK | There are several spots on Eagle that used to be phenomenal years ago, but haven't shown a fish in 5+ years. Something changes in these spots, combined with pressure to move these fish elsewhere. I scratch my head every time I go to these spots to give it "one" more shot. |

Location: Eastern Ontario | I had a spot with a downed tree on a bald rock shore that was always good for a fish or a follow. The ice moved out the tree and I never saw another fish there. Can't prove they are never there but i took it off my milk run. |

Location: Michigan | Yes! Change in cover (weeds getting killed off or new weeds growing in places), change in forage, increased fishing pressure, increased boating pressure, etc can all change a spot. The biggest thing I've seen on local lakes and others such as Eagle is the change in cover. Crayfish destroying weed-beds has killed some of my favorite spots on Eagle while new weed growth has made new spots and/or increased productivity from old spots on local lakes. |

| Often if a lot of small pike appear it's a good sign the big ones are gone. Seen this happen especially on smaller lakes. In the 2 cases that come to mind the big ones were fished out due to heavy fishing pressure. Instead of catching fewer but much bigger fish (such as musky) all you caught was a lot of small (pike and bass).
I've kind of noticed over the years if a lot of small fish are biting it's often a sign the big ones are not around or at active. BTW by small I don't mean perch-etc. If guys are catching these often a big one is around.
