Once past Duluth MN which is faster? US 2 to Baudette MN or 153 to International Falls to Canada 11? Is 11 two or 4 lane?

I live in Hayward and have always taken 53 all the way to International falls and then HWY11. 11 is a 2 lane but usually seems to be maintained pretty well and is relatively flat with decent enough areas to pass if needed.

I had a border agent ask me why I didn't cross at Baudette once because they thought it was quicker. I dunno - my GPS and maps have always taken me on 53 the whole way.

You could check Google Maps to get a better idea but maybe 90 minutes or so from the border to Morson. Speed limit is 90 km/hr or something. I drive it about 55-60 mph I think.

I also go to I-falls from Duluth. Across 11 is an easy drive and we stop at the grocery store in EMO to buy our food for the trip, nice clean store and has everything you will need. And you can do currency exchange there if need be. Just stick to speed limit....i have seen a few patrols. It's 5 hours from Duluth with gas and grocery stop.

There isnt much of a difference in time. Google maps states 4 hours and 28 minutes via 11. and 4 hours 38 minutes taking 2 up to Northhome. I have a place near Morrson and cross at Baudette nearly every weekend. The advantage of crossing at Baudette is its a small border crossing and its fast as there is very little traffic. Get food and gas in Buadette and it's a half hour drive to Morrson.

I stop thru my hometown of Hayward to grab buddies and we have always taken US2. Most we have ever waiting to cross was 2 minutes into Canada and 5 minutes back in. I've heard some guys had to wait a long time crossing I Falls. This has been the case since the late 90s. GPS says fastest route is 53 however when we make the turn on 2 the "time to destination" literally changes by a minute.
