Posts: 653 Location: Moses Lake, WA | Another 12" basswood lure coughed up from the basement by the lure elves, aluminum lip, 1.5" thick. No idea what to call this so I named it the Golden Whats-it. If you don't like the name feel free to suggest one of your own. Posts: 102 | Love the lures, I feel like you post some cool new ones every other day! Nice work. Would love to know how you get some of your finishes. Or see how you actually make your lures! Great work

Posts: 653 Location: Moses Lake, WA | Eastman03 - There really aren't any secrets to what I'm doing, it's all pretty much standard procedure in the field of lure building. The finishes are primarily dictated by the choice of commercial holographic film that is glued to the sides or by the choice of cloth similarly glued down as siding. The rest is just careful attention to detail in adding multiple epoxy topcoats. Gringo Loco

Posts: 556 | Do these lures you make actually work--I can they be cast or trolled ?? The reason I ask is simply because I have never seen lip angles or designs like yours before--- I have run hundreds of lures--both casting and trolling and I can't believe these would run correctly without blowing out or not even running straight. So are your lures meant to be FISHABLE or are they more like FOLK ART types for display ?? you have some absolutely GREAT COLORS and PAINT SCHEMES on these lures--so if they were fishable lures I know I might be interested in trying 1 for myself.

Posts: 653 Location: Moses Lake, WA | The ones I've tested run fine although occasionally one won't track. In my opinion running straight is overrated, although blowing out is another matter. My problem is that Moses Lake has about 18" of visibility and once they dive you lose information on what's going on. These lures are primarily meant to be trolled rather than cast. Most are pretty heavy and have large lips which will place limits on the speed you can troll them. I normally test about 2.5 mph which is probably somewhat slow by muskie standards. Some will run faster, some won't. As for your comments on shapes and lip angles I don't concur. My lures are not that much of a deviation from standard forms. My color schemes however are somewhat off the map compared to the norm.
